Feb 22/11 Scouting History Night
The theme for tonight's meeting wast "Scouting History" As we all know beavers are 5-7 years old and as much as we want to teach them where we came from and why today's date is so important we needed to find a fun and exciting way to do so.
February 22nd is the birthday of Robert Baden Powell (AKA BP) He is the founder of Scouting world wide. Or as my beavers will tell you "he invented beavers/scouts" so what better way to teach them this them to have a Birthday Party for him. Did you know if he were alive today he would be 154 years old.![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg09I78zpT6l6fp4ILjDI7jD3-SSMT8IPcIfs2eVq8Q_6vmFpY6k28_5qjOX7MU0Kri47TaC7Pu9w9VI5oqRiS3Xgmg7-Fl5cVnqgaSY1A36wE8vFmRTUqrjDep_WdgAFDd2o5JYY0VG7M/s320/Nikon_11456.JPG)
Tonight's meeting included balloons and the decorating of cupcakes. The beavers worked really hard to decorate themselves a beautiful yummy cupcake that they would enjoy eating at the end of the meeting.
While some beavers were creating there cupcakes other beavers were playing with Birthday Balloons, did you know that most of them have no problem creating enough static to stick the balloon right to their own head and walk around with it stuck there.
We even got to stick one to a willing parents head
After we did all this we had lit the candles on the cakes and sang a happy birthday song to BP sand one of our favourite songs "Ging Gang Gooli" and received a lovely Baden Powell crest for our camp blankets.

Manitoba Moose Game
On Saturday Feb 12 over 500 tickets for the Manitoba Moose were sold to friends and families of Scouting. We had a bit of a pregame activity going on with some Beaver Buggy/Kub Kar racing, Hockey Skills, and SAR Tech activities upstairs.![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVaKapxMlDIOaUUlBhiGD2ZhL7TG1CuA8ZkLKr0dHf70lj2_j9SE8WutGQc8g39CA5n0u4GshHDr9OQNIdzvTHWbfJZ35h_Pn0vGdQlRzgQarsbvw_TyyQUQShTmEM47WMkcvGvrmpdZ4/s320/Nikon_11357.JPG)
This night was also a very attended game by the public as they were retiring Mike Keane's Jersey number.![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhp6mfFPhfHWtjpt1x6UWItToMI1ifmeIHJYLbnjR7HvkMVCOZC0GBoZ_2kX9hgjZs6ZegaIqJqFY9EwfNJ20YhQHzMulQ9TtfqCKJhyphenhyphenMszQMvK7OXlcbJ0xffYg08m751Rgpjk0dGyISA/s320/Nikon_11358.JPG)
Beach Night
While I think it is about time thatI started blogging our Beaver Adventures for parents to read about. I am going to start current and then hopefully in time be able to blopg about some of the past things we have done.
Tonight was BEACH NIGHT
Beavers arrived decked out in thier beach gear and were ready to walk away from the snow even if just for an hour (even thought we did reach +4 today)
I love to see some of the leaders and parenst take part in games it was really nice of Cam today to join us on our relay games even if he did tell me that he's not very agil anymore.
Ringtail then had the beavers make Frisbee's out of paperplates. I think that some of the beavers could have worked on them all night. Give 5-7 years olds a paper plate some markers, crayons , and stickers and you have yourself endless fun making almost anything. Tonights insperation was the frisbee for the beach.
After making the frisbees the real challen began... making those frisbees fly into a laundry hamper from only 6 feet away. not as easy as it sounds.
